DineLA is back, but who has the best deals?

Main Post:

Once again, there are hundreds of restaurants participating across LA from casual gems to upscale splurges. But let's be honest: some menus are better deals than others.

So... who’s actually offering the best bang for your buck this time around?

A few things I’ve noticed so far:

  • Some spots are straight-up offering their regular lunch or dinner menu at the same price, just bundled.
  • Others are putting out legit tasting menus or including dishes that would normally cost more than the prix fixe total.
  • A couple steakhouses and sushi joints have caught my eye, but I'm wondering if they’re worth it or just riding the DineLA hype.

Curious what spots you have your eye on.
Any hidden gems or underrated deals this season?

Top Comment: I can vouch for Yakumi being a solid deal at $25 Lunch/Dinner. Basically a free Mango Lychee cocktail & $4 off their signature sushi box. We had it last year and it was tasty.

What is your personal “Best Deal in Town” in LA?

Main Post:

I’ve seen some posts like this but they are all specific to certain topic (best dinner deal, best drinks deal, best weed deal).

I think it would be great to make a master list of the best deals in LA across any and all categories.

If you have any please drop them in the comments!

Top Comment: Hot Wok in North Hollywood. Quan makes some of the best chinese food around, fresh to order. It’s like $7 or $8 for entrees.

Suit Deals a la the MJ Bale two-for-$1000?

Main Post:

Hello friends,

I'm entering a corporate job soon and I've been looking for some good entry-level suits to set me off with a basic wardrobe to begin with. From searching this forum (and some blog posts) I think a fair consensus was that the best deal for an entry-level worker was the MJ Bale two suits for $1000. However, it seems to have disappeared from their website.

Searching this forum for the past year has no deals I can see except for the annual Black Friday/Cyber Monday type ones. Is there any retailer that offers something similar? Or is my best bet to grab some decent OTR suits from TK Maxx or some such and get them alterated?

It goes without saying that the annual "fly in, measure up, and courier you suits from overseas" type things are in this current climate, out of reach.

Thank you in advance

Going to get a lot of hate for saying so, but Oxford suits are cut well and fit me right off the rack. I’ve even received genuine compliments from strangers when wearing one. They don’t last very long, sure, but you can upgrade once you get going in your new job. I don’t wear them anymore, but they were perfect when I needed something cheap and functional when starting out.

Edited to add that I’ve spoken to people at MJ Bale, who told me that the only suits that go on sale these days are discontinued styles and their basic navy suit.

LA free food deals: What/where/when?

Main Post:

Hey guys,

Always missing out on free food deals around here, especially the sports ones.

What spots usually have freebies or good deals? And when does this stuff normally happen?

How do you guys actually find out about them in time? Any specific accounts or sites to watch?

Thanks!

Found some great Happy Hour & brunch deals across LA, sharing to help save a few bucks

Main Post:

Been tracking down food and drink specials all over SoCal. Here are a few favorites I've come across:

  • Perch (DTLA) – $4+ Bites, $5 Beers, $7 Wines, $9 Cocktails, Great Views of Downtown
  • Anejo Cantina (Sherman Oaks) – $18 Bottomless Mimosas during Weekend Brunch (and they have Happy Hour during the week)!
  • The Carvery (Long Beach) – $6+ Apps, $2 off Drafts/Wine, $3 off Cocktails

If you want to find even more deals, I built a free app and website that shows food & drink specials near you: https://happyhopper.app/

Hope this helps, and feel free to share any other spots I should check out!

Top Comment: Do you know what the happy hour hours are for perch?

TOOL: Made a thing to catch Free Food Deals in LA/SoCal

Main Post:

So I kept missing out on free food when LA teams win (you know the Chick-fil-A, Panda Express deals!) while my girlfriend always knew. Found out people track this stuff on Discord, but I’m useless at checking that.

Anyway, I made this wallet pass for my phone: Free Food LA. It just pings you when there's a free food deal happening.

Thought some of you here in LA/SoCal might dig it too! (Link will be in the comments).

Definitely still adding more deals. If you know any local sports/event freebies I should track, drop 'em below!

Also, curious – if this was in your city, would you use it? Wondering where else this might be handy.

Hope it helps someone else snag some free grub!
